Bassani

Over 25 million Italians have emigrated between 1861 and 1960 with a migration boom between 1871 and 1915 when over 13,5 million emigrants left the country for European and overseas destinations.

Bassani

Post by jcbassani »

I've known about many Bassani living on USA. I've been looking for documents about the emmigration of my family.
I've found in Brazil (where I am from) as many 'Bassani" as in USA. I've got a lot of documents and I'm trying to link all of them. But I've stopped on my great grandfather. I couldn't find his birthday certificate on Italy. His name is Antonio Bassani, son of Giovanni Bassani and Teresa Carraro. They arrived in Brazil in 04/1880 at Rio de Janeiro and coming latter to Espírito Santo. They'd left italy by Genova on the board of a ship named as "Pampa" on 04/1880. The arrivel document on Espírito Santo says they came from Cismon del Grappa, located at Vicenza. Antonio was 15 years old when he arrived in Brazil.
I would like to find more information about my family and I would like to link all of them. Cuz we've got so many people with the same surename on Brazil and I would like to find the origin of all.

Thanks!!! Jhon!

Hi jcbassani,

Welcome to the forum!

The LDS Church (Mormans) has filmed the vital records (birth, marriage & death acts) for the town of Cismon del Grappa. The films cover the years 1806-1815 & 1872-1889.

Here is a link to the available films.
