Ellis Island record after 1924?

Over 25 million Italians have emigrated between 1861 and 1960 with a migration boom between 1871 and 1915 when over 13,5 million emigrants left the country for European and overseas destinations.

Ellis Island record after 1924?

Post by raffygen »

Hi all,

were immigrants coming in though Ellis Island after 1924?
I have seen none after that date.

If they were coming in from another port of entry were can I find the records?

Thanks,
Raffy

Ellis only lists the records until 1924 but ancestry has some online records which are much more recent (up to about 1936 or so). Ancestry is a paid for site so you need a subscription. If you need any help with a look up let us know and we can try for you.

Hope this helps a bit.

Nuccia,

I am looking for Lena Falco coming from Nicosia, Sicily.
She should have from Italy to the US in the early or mid 1930s, probably with her husband (Toto'-Salvatore? we don't know his last name).

She should be born around 1906 probably in the US, but we are not sure.
Just in case it might be helpful, her father name is Michele Falco and her mother name is Teresa Lo Presti.

Any help is VERY appreciated. THANKS SO MUCH, :D

Hello,
you can also contact Nara Archive in Washington DC, and request NAFT 81 form to have the copy of the manifest ship, for the fee of about $ 18

http://www.archives.gov/contact/inquire-form.html

I hope it helps, bye Riccardo

Yes Nuccia. It sounds it is the right family.

Then the real name of Lena Falco is Angeline and I presume now she is born in the US.
Any other info on the family would be a great gift!

I'm still looking here..

I did find this but the dates are off..I'll post anyway but again, the dates are off.. :(

Social Security Death Index Record
about Benedetto Falco
Name: Benedetto Falco
SSN:
Born: 5 Jan 1908
Died: Sep 1967
State (Year) SSN issued: New York (Before 1951 )

Can you tell us anything more about this family? Do you know the names of any other children or if they stayed in New York or moved around? Did the family stay in the US or live to go back to Italy at one time? Any little bits and pieces you can provide will help us narrow things done.

Need to go to work. Will check in later.

Nuccia these the information we have

Michele Falco born in 1861 (Nicosia, Sicily) married with Teresa Lo Presti born in 1864 (Nicosia, Sicily). They got married in Nicosia in 1881.

Children:
- Carmela (Carmelina) born in 1886
- Ciro (Cyrus) born in 1887, died in 1936 (?). He was a priest.
- Luigia born in 1990 (never came to the US because of health reasons)
-Benny (we don't know the full name) born in the US, we don't know the birth date or the daeth date. We have been told he was in a "special hospital" for people with tubercolosis.
- Beatrix born in 1904 in NY. She should be buried in California
- Lena (we do not know if it is her full name) born in 1906 in NY and she should be buried in California.

We think Michele came to the US in the late 1890s. Probably Chicago at first and then moved and stayed in NY.
He returned to Italy some time in the 1910s-20s. He should have died in Nicosia, Sicily in the 1930s. Teresa should be buried in Nicosia too and should have died in the 1820s.

All other children except Luigia are buried in the US. We only have sure information about Carmela. She is my fiance's grandmother.
She was not a very talkative woman. She became widow at a very young age with 4 young children and she did not talk much with them about
their grandparents and uncles/aunts of neither side of the family.

The information we are interested the most from the US side is when he came to the US and when the family followed. We would like to know more about Benny too.

Any help is very appreciated.

Nuccia, yes it is him.
The info about his other trip in the US. Does it mean he came in 1894 and stayed until 1900 or that he come in twice, one in 1894 and one in 1900?

thanks,
