thi sis where my ansestors are from...i belive it is in the mountains somewhere, but more info would be appreciated, hopefully i can visit it sometime.

are you sure that's not Savio or Sabbio?

It might be Sabbio, whichever one is in northern italy between torino and milan i belive.....im not positive

I know of a place called Provaglio Val Sabia (BR) it is near Vobarno, just above Salo, and east of Lago di Garda. The locals call tha place Provaglio Sopra & Sotto.

What Surnames are you researching?

There is a SABBIO CHIESE in the province of Brescia (BS) and SABBIA in the province of Vercelli (VC).

Both are in the mountains but Sabbia is actually between Milano and Torino, so it is a good candidate.
You could check if the surnames are still present there.

Arrighi is more common in Lombardy (Sabbio Chiese) than in Piedmont (Sabbia). There are two Arrighi's listed in the phone directory of Sabbio Chiese. See this page.
The Civil records (Anagrafe) email address is anagrafe.sabbio@libero.it, you might try getting information there.
