Arrussul

Post by Poldi »

Hi everyone,
I just joined this Forum and I hope to get some help on my last name Arrussul, any post will be important.
So, I found a couple similar surnames, but none exactly the same.
I'm sure it comes from Northern Italy(Probably Veneto or surroundings).
I'd be very pleased to get more infos on it or on surnames alike (origin, meaning..).

Thanks.

Hi and welcome to the forum!
A few possibilities: Arruzzolo, Arricola, Arrisale
We would be happy to look up some US records for
you, which could lead to a town of origin and perhaps
the original spelling of your name  .
Just need a little more info
- names, date of birth, location, etc
Looking forward to hearing back from you!

Hi! Thank you both for posting.

@Suanj: The thing is it can't be calabrian(the immigration year and where they settled don't match).

I'm about to get some more data(names, date of birth) and write it down soon.

Best regards.

well.. for to know the probable italian area is necessary the right spelling or almost the similar spelling.. with Arrussul spelling... my idea is that arruzzolo is most probable, but if you know some other infos it will be better.. moreover many "calabreses" emigrated in Brazil... so much! suanj

First Calabrian Immigrants came in 1901, by that time Southern Brazil (Rio Grande do Sul) was overly populated, so the Calabrians settled most in Sao Paulo. Even those who reached Rio Grande do Sul, they established themselves in Porto Alegre and neighborhood. The rest of RS(which's the case) was occupied exclusively by northern Italians.
Hereby, it can't be calabrian.

More infos:
I found one right spelling of a similar surname: Arrussi (Giovanni Arrussi, came to Brazil in 29/11/1897)
