I'm posting this for Denise since she's having trouble with her computer today. Hope someone can help..

How would I go about getting MILITARY RECORDS

Message: I would like to get copies of my ancestors military records from Northern Italy - towns of Fiume Veneto, Paisiano, San Vito al Tagliamento, San Quirino and Spilimbergo.

What is the procedure?
Who would I write too?

Hi Nuccia and Denise, well in Pordenone Archive of State it are:

C o n s i g l i o p r o v i n c i a l e d i l e v a d i U d i n e ***, r e g g . 2 2 7 ( c l a ssi 1884-1917). Elenco 1969.
Liste di leva relative ai mandamenti di Pordenone, Maniago, Sacile, San Vito al Tagliamento e Spilimbergo. for men born from 1884 to 1917.
*** because Pordenone is a recent province(only from 1968) before in Udine province.

In Udine Archive of State:

Now: Fiume Veneto, San Vito al Tagliamento, San Quirino, Spilimbergo are currently in Pordenone province; Paisian di Prato in Udine province;

but for San Vito al Tagliamento, Spilimbergo sure it is possible to ask in Pordenone's State Archive;and I believe also for San Quirino and Fiume Veneto places; for Paisian di Prato in Udine's State Archive.
For this request the archives let you know if the records are found, and asking the payment before of to send the copies.

I don't know what are the birthyears of your ancestors; between the parentheses they are indicates the years to you of birth for all the males been born from. ...to...; so if your ancestors are born in this range, for exemple:
For PORDENONE
for male born between from 1884 until 1912

For Udine also it are many various draft registration card( militar service medical check up, and effective militar service):
years:1839 and 1841 and 1843
years: from 1846 to 1918
years: from 1872 to 1912

Thank you for clarifying the date ranges for me.

In my previous posting, I listed towns under Pordenone and Udine, are they correct? For example, if I wanted my grandfathers military record from Pasiano, I would write to Udine.....and so on.

as already saying, this commons it was all under Udine province, but when Pordenone become province, many pertaining Commons going under Pordenone province; now this is recent past time; , because a new province it was created all story's documents of this Commons goind in the new archive, also if this documents it are mentioned Udine as province; so for the Commons that you are searching liste di leva, if they are in Pordenone province, you must to write in the Pordenone ARCHIVE; for Paisian di Prato , this common it is pertaining UDINE province; so I believe that you can write in Udine ARCHIVE and if they don't have this record, sure they let you know where you must to write for to obtain it; I cannot say more abt this topic, because the " mandamento" militar district no all times is equal to province land with Commons;
so you write in Udine for Paisian di Prato record, and I believe that you can have success, regards, suanj
