Looking for DiDesidero, Elisio, Tittaferrante and Coglianese

Post by vacog »

As for the Coglianese surname, I do not have a lot of information on the family yet. I know they are from southern Italy, but am unaware of the exact location. DiDesidero and Tittaferrante are from Gissi and Elisio (or Elisii, Lisio), and Pinto are all relatives from Guardiagrele (Chieti).

My grandfather, Pasquale Antonio Didesidero, came to Ellis Island in 1920, as did my grndmother, Dina Elisio. They met and married in the US (Pennsylvania). The family tree research has been a long one, but so interesting. If anyone has similar surnames to connect, please let me know. Thank you.

Before writing for their birth acts, it is best (due to Italian naming traditions) to have their parents names, which can be obtained by getting US documentation.

Once you have this information & their birth acts, the LDS Church (Mormons) have filmed the civil records (birth, marriage & death acts 1809-1900) for Gissi, Guardiagrele & Liscia.

If you need the film numbers and/or more information on these films or anything else, please let us know.

Does this mean that the Coglianese info would be found in Liscia? Where exactly is that? My husband is a Coglianese, somehow related to Frank Sinatra, but without the singing voice! Any help would be greatly appreciated.

"King of Italy"? That is hilarious and exactly what I would expect from a Coglianese! This all looks like exactly what I am looking for. Thank you so much for supplying it to me. Do you charge for these services? I could use as much as you can get me.

Ferdinand would have had his first son in 1896, so this cannot be the same "Fred" in 1900, living with just borders and not his wife or children? How can I find the names of his )Ferdinand's) parents in Italy? Should I write to those addresses for more info? Still not sure which one would work for the Coglianese information.

Thanks again for your help. You are too kind!

Before writing to Italy, you need to do your US research & obtain documents for him & his family. Hopefully you will learn his town of birth information by getting birth records and baptismal records for his children. His death record would be another source that can have this information.

My sister-in-law tells me that Ferdinand was born in Avellino, Italy (abt. 1872). She said that his wife, Ninfa Sinatra, was Sicilian. Does this help you at all?

I know this is a forum, but I would rather do this by personal email with you. Any chance of that?

Hi Vacog,

I'm a Tittaferrante and my parents were from Gissi. I don't have any real contact with them but I know I have relatives in Vasto. What are you looking for?

Fred.

Hi Fred.

Trying to find out as much as I can. My great grandmother (Mother's side) was Antonia Tittaferrante (born abt 1864). Her father was Alessandro Tittaferrante and her mother, Giulia Giovine. I do not know if she had siblings or anything beyond that.

Please let me know if any of this looks familiar.

Thanks for the post.
