Witnesses on marriage publication

Post by BillieDeKid »

Hope someone knows the answer to this.

I have quite a few Pubblicazioni's Di Matrimonio's for my family. At the top of all of them it lists the groom's name, age, son of and then his father and if the father is deceased it says fu (same for mother). Same for brides parents too.

All of the witnesses on my documents just have the persons name, age and occupation except for one document. It has the witnesses names then fu and a first name (after each one). Does it mean the same thing as it does when referencing the bride or grooms parent(s)?

Witnesses name - son of the deceased?

Thanks

Elizabeth

when for a witness name it are FU(late) and name father, or DI( living) and name father, it mean that in same town are 2 persons( or more) with same name, and the name father( living or late) was helpful for to indentify the right person... so no confusion...
