Guiseppe Marigliano

Post by justme »

Hello

Guiseppe Marigliano, born April 6, 1898, Marigliano or Caivano, Italy.

Immigrated to Philadelphia on board the SS Napoli, arrival date 5 Jun 1913. Per ship manifest relative in Italy was mother Guiseppa - last residence was Caivano.
Per 1930 census his father's name was Francis, who arrived here 1904, both were barbers.
They used to send packages back to Caivano Italy.
Would love mother's maiden name - marriage records of Francis and Guiseppa. Anything that might help us contiune our tree.

Thank you for reading this will be grateful for any info.

note:
the Petition and Oath are from the

Lots of records, free unless you want
to see the full version of the record.

Hi justme,

There doesn't seem to be any films for Caivano thru the LDS church. Here is some information (and old thread from this forum) where you can write to request the marriage records of Francis and Giuseppa.

http://italiangenealogy.tardio.com/Foru ... 32143.html

Do you have the death certificate of Francis? I'm assuming that he died here in the states? Did Giuseppa ever come to the US and did Giuseppe have any brothers and sisters? If so, what years were they born (about) and what were their names? Were they married and what were their spouses names? The more information you can supply the easier it is for the people on the site to help you.

Nice find on the petition vj!!

Valarie,
Sorry. My mistake. I was looking a couple of lines down. You're correct it is Napoli. I'll go back and correct my post.

A couple of observations.

1. On vj's manifest, the person above , Raffaele Palmiero (or Palumero) is going to the same place to his brother Nicola.

2. On Biff's manifest lines 24 and 25, are going to their brother Francesco at the same address, but they have a different last name. (I can't make it out)

Hey Mary Jo!
Great catch!
That sure clarifies the godfather's
name :D : Nicola Palmiero/Palumero
Valarie

note: currently over 300 folks
with the name Palmiero in Caivano

Was trying to noodle out that common address
on Biff's 1913 manifest...
750 South Street?

Doesn't appear to match the
1918 WWI Draft Registration Card

Mary Jo, lines 24-26 on Biff's 1913 manifest?
May be Grassia, all born in Frattaminore (Napoli)?

I think more like Graglia. The formation of the letters looks like the same gl in Marigliano.

Yes, that's the place Biff was trying to figure out. Is there such a place? It may be a section of Naples.

It looks like Francesco is their brother or they are going to another Francesco at the same address.

Hope you don't mind me sticking my 2 cents in, line 28 - last name is also Grazia like lines 24-26. He's going to the same town in PA but not the same address as the rest. And he's from the same town (the one Biffs working on).
