What does this mean?

Post by Emmy »

e morto nella ina propriatasa
This phrase was in a death record from 1857.
It also said he was the husband of ........... then it gave the age 90 years
not quite sure here if it was the person who had died that was 90 or the wife who was still alive? But I presume that because its a death record that would be the age of the deceased?

The spelling of the words may not be accurate
I thought at first it meant that he died in what I would refer to as a 'nursing home' (Just a guess)

Grateful for any ideas

Possibly means - died as a property owner

proprieta means property or owner of property.

Can you produce a 'scan' of the words in question.... As you have spelled them they are not real words as such!

Hi,

I think there may be a misspelled word.......nella propria casa........He died in his own house and I would assume that the 90 did refer to the deceased - not his widow.

e morto nella ina propriatasa
Elba, Its not possible for me to get this one scanned but I think I could have made a mistake with the 't' in propriatasa it seems it could have been a 'C' as Sirena suggested
nella propria casa
but its the 3 letters between 'nella' and 'propria casa' thats the problem. I'll have another look when I go back to he FHC on Thursday

Elizabeth I think if it had been 'property owner' maybe it would have had 'professione' before it but it definatley had 'e morte' before the other words.
It confused me because it was slightly different from the others I was recording.
Thank you all for your suggestions

"nella sua propria casa" or "in his own house". I'm guessing that "ina" is really "sua". Peg
