Are you looking for an Italian surname? Do you need more information about your family heritage?
This is the right place to start your genealogy search.
I need to find more information for Angelina Santolucito.
1910 US Federal Census has her listed as Angelina (alternate spelling, incorrect, Santomeito):
b. 1892 in Italy; home in 1910 is Waltham Ward 6. Middlesex, MA; single; year of immigration 1910; sister of Giuseppe Santomeito (Santolucito).
I am positive this is the correct person but I cannot find WHERE she entered the U.S. in 1910 (she would have been 8 yrs. old). Her brother immigrated in 1900.
Beyond that, I need to find a record of marriage to James Paino. Their first child was born in 1912, in Vermont; she died in 1919 and is buried in Mt. Calvary Cemetery in St. Johnsbury, VT.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I've hit the wall at this point!
I don't know her mother's maiden name. Her husband, James, was from Malfa, Salina, one of the Aeolian Isles. I can't find anything that tells me where she might be from, but thought that if I could ascertain where she came into the U.S., I might be able to at least guess at her starting point.
Sorry I can't add anything more...thank you for helping.
Do you know if she had a brother named Gaetano? Here is a 1900 manifest for him - line 27 - from Malfa - going to be with his brothers Raffaele and ? and that he had been in the US before from 1891 to 1899.
My only other question, how do you know Angelina's brothers name, their years of birth and year's coming to US? Edit......Not Angelina's sister, changed to brother Giuseppe
Regards,
Elizabeth
Laura,
Perhaps Giuseppe & Angelina’s town of
birth are on Giuseppe’s original naturalization
paperwork?

vj - can you check the manifest I posted and see what you think the two brothers names are? I'm sure the first one is Raffaele and I can't make out the second brothers name. Edit.........changed post asking if second brother I can't read is Giuseppe.
Elizabeth
Elizabeth, I've seen that type of error before too.
The manifest may have been too early for
Giuseppe though.
Could have meant a cousin Gaetano?
Valarie
Elizabeth,
This is one of the 'Gaetano' records I had mentioned,
same town in Vermont as the Paino famiily.
Son Ralph born in MA. 1910 Santolucito
Could be a coincidence.

Why is it difficult for most persons to read a Latin document? You may think that it is because they never studied Latin in school. The real answer is that some of the words appear unfamiliar to you. On the positive side, you probably already know enough Latin words to pick out a few of them in a d...
