Certificate translation

Post by dutchpete »

O kay this comes from the Comune de Misilmeri; Certificato comprovante l'esito avuto nella Leva sui giovani nati nell'anno 1894 da PIPITONE ANDREA
I can't read the hand writing here.

In fede lo stesso Sindaco rilascia il presente certificato.
Fatto MISILMERI a il 3 MAGGIO 1917

So what kind of document is this and if someone can tell me how to transfer it to this website, I'm all ears. I'm on a Macbook and I've tried dragging and copying but paste does not come up.
Thanks for all your help.

This is a certificate about the military draft card of Pipitone Andrea
Pipitone Andrea son of Giavani and Pachino Maria Stella was born in Misilmeri on May 2nd 1875, and his name was entered in the military draf of 1876.
I don't understand if Andrea Pipitone left for the military service.
If you want you can request his military record to
Archivio di Stato di Palermo

I hope it helps,
bye Riccardo

p.s. use imageshack to scan your document, so we can read what is written on it

Hi DutchPete,

Here's the link for image shack.
http://imageshack.us/
First set up a free account. After you set up the account you will see the button to browse - select browse and select your image or jpg. After you select your image to upload hit the host it button. Once the image gets uploaded to image shack your screen will be showing quit a few links and a small picture of your image. Scroll all the way to the VERY bottom and you will see an option for direct link - copy the address for the direct link then paste that link into a new post for this thread.

EXAMPLE: Each of these options will have addresses next to them for the image you just hosted - you want to go to the last one (direct link) and copy the http address next to it (copy the entire address). Now come back to our genealogy site, post a new comment to this thread and paste the link into your post.

Link back to ImageShack or use the banners and buttons.

Direct link to image

What you copy should look something like this (without the spaces)

Hope this helps

Okay thanks. I'll try to post it now, because when I went to Misilmeri and got his birth record and marriage record his birthdate was december 1873?
This document was with his US Naturalization papers dated 1917, both will come up with the post I think.

I've increased it in size a bit - may be easier to read...

Is the original picture, in your PC, the same size as the one you posted? You should post the picture without resizing it...
