How do I find out about a friend made during WW2?

Post by genny »

Hi there
I'm new to this and was wondering if someone could help me. My father has asked me to see if I can find any information on a friend he made during WW2, I have her name and address from 1945.

Any advice gratefully received!

Kind regards
genny

thanks for this! I guess there would be a birth/death/marriage site for me to see if she has done any of these things..?

I guess this is all rather simplistic questions for you enthusiasts!

Italian records are a bit more involved than US records  .
Depending on the location and date, the Family History Library
may have her family's records on microfilm.

Hi Genny,

Can you post her name (including surname) and the comune, province and or region she was from. Also if you know her approximate age in 1945?

Regards,
Elizabeth

Hiya

full name - Maria Gabriella Peterich, via St Margherita a Montici, NI Florence. She would have been early 20's in 1945. Her father was German and her Mother Italian - dad seemed to think the father was an archeologist, and he only knew of her having one sister. Apparently they spent half the time in florence and the half of the time in Forte de Marmi. Her nickname was Coccone!

That's everything I know!

Thanks again

oh by the way - I'm in New Zealand, not that it makes a difference! LOL

Hi Genny,
Maria Gabriella Peterich was my gran mother,
Her nickname was Coccolo, she spent her life living in via Santa Margherita a Montici, in Florence, she was born in 1926, her father was German and was a Writer, her mother was Italian. I think you were looking for her.
Unfortunatly she died ten years ago.

Regards,

Camilla
