Calabretta
Calabretta
I am trying to hunt down my ancestors from Italy. My great grandmother was Teresa Calabretta. I believe she married a Saverio Greco in Pennsylvania. If anyone know any information about them please share. Thanks
John

Re: Calabretta
Here is the only other piece of information I have. I believe Teresa Calabretta came to the USA in the early 1900s. Thanks
Re: Calabretta
Welcome,
Any idea when they married? Where they lived in PA?
Thanks,
Joanna

Re: Calabretta
Dear Johnnykal your Ggrandmother Teresa Calabretta arrived in the USA at NYC with her mother Rosaria Bressi and her 3 sisters Barbara, Concetta, and Giuseppina to join their father Francesco Calabretta. They were destined to (phonetic spelling) Shawokea, Pa. They came from the Isca sullo ionio, 88060, Catanzaro province, Calabria
Italian women do not lose their identity and only the children take on their fathers surname while the mother retains her maiden name.
Since you are starting out may I suggest you buy/borrow the book Italian genealogical records by Trafford R. Cole which is an easy read and enable you to conduct your own genealogical research. Go to www.ellisisland.org and just put in the title Teresa Calabretta and then clcik her name when it comes up. and then when you see the information about Teresa come up with all her vital data go up to the top and click on ships manifest for the rest ofthe family on the ships manfiest. =Peter=

Re: Calabretta
They lived in Mt Carmel, Pennsylvania. My best guess on the timing of the marriage would be around 1910.
Re: Calabretta
Peter - Thank you so much. I cant wait to pass this information on to my family.
