Can anyone help me with some info that has been passed down thru the years? I'm sure this is wrong because I have not been able to find anything for the exact names, but have come close to some "sounding like" them.
My great grandfather is suppose to have come to the U.S. from Sagona, Italy. (He was born in Naples in 1878. I have his death cert.) He is said to have sailed on a ship called the Liberia.
Any help with at least the town would be greatly appreciated.

Just some fuel for thought. There is a quartiere of Naples called Soccavo --- I wonder what it sounds like in dialect?

Do you have his Ellis Island record? If not, that record might give you the information you need. if you use this site, you can look it up by name, date, ship of travel, etc.
