GiovanniBattista/Rosa/Giovannina Falbo immigration

Over 25 million Italians have emigrated between 1861 and 1960 with a migration boom between 1871 and 1915 when over 13,5 million emigrants left the country for European and overseas destinations.

GiovanniBattista/Rosa/Giovannina Falbo immigration

Post by ldineen »

My great grandfather (Agostino Falbo) had a brother GiovanniBattista Falbo and 2 sisters Giovannina and Rosa who were supposed to have immigrated to the USA to Boomer, WV where Agostino came. I have found the records in Caccuri about GiovanniBattista, but I haven't found anything about him immigrating. My grandmother remembers him being in Boomer when she was a child. I know nothing on Rosa, but I have Giovannina's marriage document from Caccuri.

This is what I am looking for:
GiovanniBattista's manifest and/or census information from Boomer giving children's names to find living relatives

Rosa's manifest to find where she settled and to find living relatives

Giovannina's manifest and/or census information from Boomer giving information on she and her husband, death record on her husband, name of her 2nd husband and where she died (maybe ohio or pa)

This is what I know

GiovanniBattista Falbo DOB Oct. 24 1899
Father: Raffaele Falbo
Mother: Anna Maria Secreto

Brother: Giovanni Guiseppe b. 1888 caccuri d.1946

Brother: Alessandro Falbo died in Italy

Brother: Salvatore Falbo stayed in Italy

Brother: Rocco Falbo was a tailor and moved to Argentina

Sister: Giovannina Falbo came to USA , married Fransisco Silleta in Caccuri lived in Boomer, Fransisco died, she remarried and died in USA unknown location

Sister: Rosa Falbo b. Caccuri d. USA unknown location

Brother: Guiseppe Falbo: stayed in Italy I think

Brother: Agostino Falbo: b. Dec 31, 1876 immigrated to Boomer, WV in 1902 and died abt. 1921 in Boomer of black lung or TB

Wife: Giovannina Juliano
Marriage: Feb. 08 1920
daughter: Anna Maria Falbo DOB March 20 1921?

I know there is alot of info here, but can anyone shed any light on any parts?

hi Lidneen,

about 1909 Rosa's manifest I read she was going to her husband Vincenzo Lacava in WV - Richard (?)
In fact I found a 1902 arrival manifest about Vincenzo La Cava from Caccuri going to meet his brother in Law Agostino Falbo in Monongah? WV
Here is:
La cava Vincenzo 1902 arrival
Did you noticed she would have travelled with her brother Agostino, but this name is crossed out, so perhaps Agostino came back sometimes in Italy but didn't leave in that time with his sister....

How do you put it on imageshack and add the link here?

That is wonderful that I have found the manifests for GiovanniBattista, Rosa and Giovannina!!

Now, I need to find them on the census because I know they were all in Boomer, Wv during the sam time. I need to find out if their were children ect. to see if I can find living relatives.

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!! My grandmother will be so happy I have found info on her aunts and uncle!!

If you want to put up a link from a non-subscription site
you don’t need imageshack

Copy the link from your address bar and
then paste the address in your post
---

If you want to shorten it & add a description:

Type your words
Paste the address link between the = and the ]
---

edit: added
Imageshack:

Save your document to your computer
(putting it on your desktop is pretty quick)

Go to http://www.imageshack.us/

Click ‘Browse’
Find your document, click (or double click) it
When it appears on the imageshack page (in the bar
next to ‘Browse’)
- don’t ‘resize’ it
Click ‘Host It’
After it loads,
Scroll down, choose the last option
(direct link) copy the address of your
document
Paste the address from imageshack on your post

I'm sorry about this. Can someone send Rosa's manifet one more time but, through imageshack?

It needs to be from imageshack, other wise I can't print. Ellisisland won't let me print the manifest for some reason.

That is great, it shows her coming with her brother!

Agostino must have come to Boomer in 1902 returned home, come back in 1909.

I also have a document I need to scan to someone to translate. Because it is about sponsership for someone I think Agostino, to come back to America in 1913. I could be his sister Giovannina, I can't tell who is being sponsered. It has Agostino, his father and Giovannina's name on it.

GOODGREIF!!! I just looked at Rosa and Agostino's manifest (1909) That isn't the correct Rosa and Agostino.. It says their father is Francesco. That isn't correct. My Agostino and Rosa, their dad was Raffele.

I'm sorry. I guess this is why they came up with nicknames for people? How could there be 2 brothers and sisters with the exact same names from different families? Do you think this could be a mistake?

Actually, it can be pretty common.
With the naming tradition of 1st son after paternal father,
1st daughter after paternal mother, etc
Lot's of cousins with the same 1st & last names, all in the same town,
all about the same age!

They would have to be at least 1st cousins.

Although, I have not found any "Francesco Falbo" which is listed as their father. He must be a brother of Agostino and Rosa's father, Raffele, that I have never heard of.

Hmmm

It is weird that the Agostino and Rosa on that manifest is not the correct people because:

When Agostino immigrated in 1902, he was coming to see Gaetano Lacaria

When Gaetano came over in 1912, he was coming to see his brother, Vincenzo Lacaria.

Gaetano and Vincenzo are brothers and Vincenzo was Rosa Falbo's husband. Isn't that a big coincidence?

Do you think that the manifest had Rosa's and Agostino's dad's name down wrong?
