Naturalization in Manhattan.......

Over 25 million Italians have emigrated between 1861 and 1960 with a migration boom between 1871 and 1915 when over 13,5 million emigrants left the country for European and overseas destinations.

Naturalization in Manhattan.......

Post by suanj »

Hi all, I found this record by stevemorse
Southern District (Manhattan, Bronx, Westchester) 1906-1959 :

PERRETTI Americo - age 34 - cert. n° 488119 - date 12/03/1945- birthyear 1911 ... I know that he came from Sao Paulo -Brazil in the 1928 with a cousin, both of italian origin( I have the ship's manifest) .... my problem is: I cannot find the same record on footnote.com and ditto on ancestry.com.... why..?
I believe that this database is available in both websites, but no result... some advice?
this free search is for a my friend genealogist, and after some year, finally I found that 2 cousins, Americo Perretti son of Ginevra Santina Bertotti, and the other , son of Celio Bertotti, both emigrated in USA ... abt the Celio Bertotti's son I found also the living relatives, but nothing abt Americo Perretti....... maybe he died unmarried....

I know that he died in 1946, 26 Feb in Manhattan, certificate number 5849, but I cannot find trace of Americo Perretti in 1930 census in all NY state and also in all states! I know that he lived some year in Brooklyn, and after in Manhattan... I have found no more abt this people, a big mystery....
advices?
thanks, suanj

suanj,
You're right the record should be on footnote, I
can't find it either. Not the first time IGG had it
& not footnote
(NY Southern District has no indexes on footnote
between 1930-1950)
No luck on a census either, very odd

I don't know if this is him or not, but take a look and see what you think.

“he came to US on board the SS American Legion in June of 1928 from
Sao Paulo, Brazil. He was 16 at the time and was listed as a mechanic.
I'm looking for his date and place of death.
His father and mother are listed on his marriage certificate at Frank &
Genevieve (Leone) Perretti.â€
