Hi,
I think that the sister of your great parent Calogera Diliberto, born the november 12th 1882 at San Ciperello - Palerme, was marrried in tunisia en 1900 with Mr Giacchille Gaëtan.
Yous can see that on this website :http://debono.club.fr/mariagestunisie/BG18.html

They had 6 children, all born in tunisia.

Hello,

I saw the subject line and it interested me. My maiden name is De Carlo, however my Grandfather's last name was Di Carlo. I am completely ignorant of a great deal of details about where my ancestors came form, or the reason for the name change, but I am really hoping someone out there will have some information for me. My Grandparents have passed away and all the info I have has come from my Dad, who seems like he might not have all the answers to my questions.

As far as I know:

Me (Laurie De Carlo)
My Dad (Guido De Carlo)
My Grandpa (Rocco De Carlo, 1 of 9 children born in Peterborough, ON, Canada)
My Great Grandparents (Flornito Di Carlo and Maria Aimola both born in Rocco San Giovanni and immigrated to Canada)

Then it all seems to get a bit confusing...

Florinto Di Carlo's parents (Antonio Di Carlo and Rosaria Aimola both born in Italy)
Maria (Mary) Aimola's parents (Antonio Aimola and Raffaella Pagliarone?? both born in Rocco St. Giusi)

Maria Aimola's paternal Grandparents (Domenico Aimola and Anna Giardino)

This is all the information I can find out form my Dad and Ancestry.ca. Not even sure what's correct. If anyone knows anything about these people or where I might find more out, I would love to know.

Not really sure how I ended up here reading your post but here I am.

My name is Frederick DeCarlo(Rick) and I am from Peterborough, On Canada. I have a brother Rocco DeCarlo but I'm sure that is not your grandfather. There is another Rocco DeCarlo from Peterborough On that I am aware of. He and my brother and me as well all worked at Canadian General Electric many years ago. They got us confused many times over. I am not sure what happened to him but I could probably find out easy enough.
My grandfather was born in Rocco San Giavanni in the 1880's I believe. His name was Nicola DeCarlo and was married to a Pace, first name escapes me at the moment.

here is my email, hope to hear from you. rickdecarlo@gmail.com

My Grandfather, NIcola DiCarlo/DeCarlo was married to Maria Asunta Pace and emigrated to Canada in 1910-1912 area

My Father, Peter (Pietro) DeCarlo arrived with his mother, Maria Asunta Pace in July 1912

This family was from Rocca San Giovann, Chieti, Italy

Nicola and Maria had 10 children Peter, Fred, Grace, Angeline, Rose, Theresa, Anthony (Tony), Daniel, Regina and one boy who died at the age of 5 or so.

They first landed in New York then Montreal, then Toronto and finally settled in Peterborough, Ontario.

Grandmother Maria Asunta Pace had a brother Angelo Pace who lived in Calagary Alberta and another named John who I know nothing about.
Any information would be helpful

Grandfather, Nicola, had a brother Domenic

My grandfather, Domenic Di Carlo/De Carlo was from Rocca San Giovanni. He married Anna Marino from Fassacesia, Italy, province of Chieti Region of Abruzzo. They had 3 sons - Tommy, Carmen and Nicola (my father), and four daughters - Katherine, Stella, Mary and Yola. They too landed in New York from Italy and eventually settled in Toronto, ON.

My father went to Peterborough on route to Montreal,(to find work) met and married my mother, (Georgina Elliott). Shortly after they were married he moved his parents to Peterborough and they lived with my parents. My father and mother had 12 children.

It is not known why the name was changed from Di to De, and If anyone has the answer to this I would appreciate knowing.

I am planning a trip to Italy next year. If anyone knows of any living relatives in Rocca San Giovanni and Fassacesia I would be most grateful if you would provide me with their names and contact details.
