Thank you Misbris. Yes, I actually found all the Ellis Island and census records.

Giuseppe (the elder, father) stayed in Italy.

Giacomo?, Giuseppe (the son) and Domenico all went to the US. Giuseppe and Domenico arrived via Ellis Island. I am not certain how Giacomo? arrived (the family called him James).

Paola (or Paulina?) also stayed in Italy. The family believes she made a visit to the US.

Giovanni? John? Juan? is a bit of a puzzle. Family legend has it that he went to South America (Argentina?), but I cannot verify his existence.

Thank you for your interest!

Misbris, you got it!

Biff, I have not seen that document before. Where did you find it? That could be my Giacomo! But I have no idea who Antonio is, however Antonio is a family name!

Suanj,

The Giacomo Basso in the 1880 census is no relation. I don't believe the Giacomo Basso that arrived in 1878 is related either. My great great uncle James (Giacomo?) came to the US in 1884. All the other information you posted is indeed my family.

My goal at this point is to get more information on the eldest Giuseppe (for example, did he have brothers?), and Paola (for example, who did she marry?), and Giovanni (for example, does he have descendents still living in Argentina?).

I'm nearly 100% certain my next step would be to go to Rivarolo myself, but I'm hoping maybe relatives in Italy or Argentina might check these boards.

Thanks for all your help!

Wow Suanj! How do I get my hand on those records? The link takes me to specific information on the records but does not take me to the records themselves.

Thanks! This is great!

Family History Centers are run by the Mormon Church and can be found throughout the world. Here is the link to help you find a location near you.

http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/default.asp

You must visit the center to order the microfilm. The cost is about $6 per film and takes about 3 weeks.
