OK I am new to all of this so any help is good.
I am researching my family and have a little info. My great grandfather was Aniello Addesso, born Aniello Adesso, on January 12, 1900. Now his birth certificate say he was born in New York, but my family says he was born in Italy. His parents were Luigi Adesso and Filomena Larotonda. I don't believe that is the correct spelling for her last name but that is the spelling I pulled up at Ellis Island. Luigi Adesso's parents were Aniello and Raffaela Caruso. For Filomena, I have Michele and Donata Gioioso. I have no dates for anything other than my great grandfathers birthdate. I do know that he was married twice. I only know one name and that is Ida Salvatore. I know that she died at a fairly early age. I know Aniello had some kids, but if they are with Ida or the other lady I do not know.

If any life events (death, birth, marriage) took place in NYC (or its burroughs) take a look at the searchable index at www.italiangen.org You can search by name. Maybe this will lead you to more documents, which you can order from the NYC municipal archive.

This is also a great guide for family history research by the Family History Library.

I don't know if you still check this site, but I just found it. My grandfather was the Aniello Addesso you are looking for. Let me know if I can help.
