Hi Bob,

Nice site you have. Have you tried the microfilms from the LDS church?

Find a Family History Center (FHC) nearest you - here's the link
http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Library ... et_fhc.asp

Next look up the microfilm you'd like to view, write down the numbers and order from your FHC. Takes 2 to 4 weeks to arrive - here's the link
http://www.familysearch.org/eng/Library ... t_fhlc.asp

You can search by name or place. Sometimes if the town you're looking for doesn't show up use the province name for civil records,

Hope this helps. Let us know if you have any questions.

I went to school with a Tommy De Martino from the Ironbound section (down neck) Newark. Don't know if this is a relation, but the Italian church was (is) Our Lady of Mt. Carmel. I have just ordered the records from the FHC which has a lot of Newark church records. They also have Essex County census records. If anything sounds familiar, let me know. Meanwhile, here is an "Old Newark" website.

Bob,

I'm sending you a PM. Meanwhile, I think this may be the census.

:D Hello my De Martino familia!
My name is Donna Yancosek Blizzard. I am from Long Island originally, but live in Texas now. My great grandma was Carmen or Carmela De Martino from Pagani. I think her mother was Lucia or Lucille or Lucy Marazzo who died in Newark NJ around 1916 holding the hand of my grandma "Lillian" Fattoruso (Italian birth name Antonia Fattoruso. Carmela came over about 1890 thru Ellis with her 3 brothers: Basil (Basilico), Saverio, and Ciro. Their parents came before them one year earlier. My belief is they were sponsered by YOUR relatives here...also family. They had to stay in America with family! Later, Saverio sr and Lucia Demartino gave birth to a Christina Demartino who I believe married a GRASSI and moved to PA. I know the brothers took on American names of : Sammy, Artie, and Basil. I do know Sammy had a son Dr Bart DeMartino. My great grandma married Pasquale fattoruso and moved from NY to NJ...and then settled on Long Island in Marconiville now known as COPIAGUE. I may have some of the info wrong on the 3 brothers of my great grandma. I think her dad was also Saverio Demartino from Pagani. I need help locating info. Please also write me at royblizzard@peoplepc.com
My side lived on 21 Garfield place Brooklyn before going to NJ. This address is also home to Al Capone whom my family fed! I have stories too.
God bless you all!
Donna
