HELP with surnames Cannella and Scecchitano

Hi,

I am trying to foind out as much information about my nana's and grand fathers families as I can, I dont have very much information to go off, very little in fact.

My nana's name is Assunta Scecchitano (maiden name Cannella) born 1925
Her parents names were Nancy and Dominic (not sure if that how its spelt.) I am unsure of when they married or where. I know my nana comes from an island called Lipari ( I think thats correct spelling)

My nana married Angelo Scecchitano with whom she had 5 children.
His parents names were I think Bartolo and Caterina (maiden name Mollica)
Bartolo date of death 13.11.1948
Caterina date of deat 31.5.1964
Angelo date of death 11.6.1963

I am wanting as much inforamtion as I can maybe to see If i have long lost relatives in Italy and to do a family tree.

Any help is good help I would love to know more about my heriatge.

Hi Leash,

I would start with your nonna's birth certificate. Here is the office email address for the island of Lipari comune, to request a copy birth cert. You would have to write it in Italian (or they probably won't reply).

Hi Leash, I forgot to say that you could also ask, at the same time, for a copy of the marriage certificate - to see if your nonni married on the island.

If you don't speak Italian, there is a translation section on this website who will translate a letter of request into Italian.
