translation help please?
Can anyone please tell what the word is after Carmela's name and what it means? It is the word on the next line preceding the dashes.

Re: translation help please?
Thanks for the response. It isn't a surname because it is appearing on other documents after the surname and I don't believe the first letter is a capital letter or a D. It looks more like the q in questa.
Re: translation help please?
The first letter looks a bit like the 'p' in Giuseppe too....
But not being able to see more of the document precludes any possibility of comparison with other words there. So little does limit the opportunity to narrow down individual writing of certain letters.... sorry!

Ok, thanks, I'll take more photos on Tues and post them
Re: translation help please?
I see what you mean. It could be a "q', "p", "f", definitely not a "g" (see agosto). What is the word before that -- last word on previous line?

Re: translation help please?
These are death records from Calabria and it seems that the word is written only on documents of deceased children. Here are a few more docs:

Re: translation help please?
Well 'that' first letter doesn't seem to be used elsewhere on these links to acts.
I've tried various combinations and checked in dictionaries but no luck....
it seems that the word is made up of the 1st letter plus:
X + a r v u l o

Re: translation help please?
Thanks elba, I've tried the same and had no success either. It looks like parvulo but there is nothing in the dict. like that.
Re: translation help please?
Parvula = pargola o se preferite infante oppure neonata.
