Johncola (Giancola), Mucia, Liberto, Cecola

Post by rMarie »

Hi,

I am looking for info on my great grandmother's parents (and her 1st husband John Liberto). I know that her parents, "Joseph" (Giuseppe) Giancola and Marie/a Mucia (died July 4th 1961 in Chicago, IL) came from Caccamo, PA Italy (so I've been told). I also recently found out that when her parents came here they entered through LA. Which means that in order for us to obtain any information from them we have to know the exact date and the name of the ship they came on. NO CLUE! I know that my great grandma's maiden name was Johncola... obviously the "Americanised" version of Giancola. She was born in Johnstown Pennsylvania on April 21st, 1906. She was married to John Liberto, who died in December of 1933 in Chicago, IL. they had 1 daughter (my nanie) Margaret Liberto in 1928. After her husbands death, she remarried to Nick Cecola. The Cecola family is from Kalamazoo, MI. Any input in general would be awesome! I'm just scratching at the surface... no one in my family has looked into this... I'm just curious as to how much I can find. Thanks for your time!!

So do I.....research would be so much easier!! I really like the West Virginia site, you can actually SEE the original records.....perhaps one day more counties will follow suit.......

Thank you for all the replies!! I'll have to talk to my uncle about it all and I'll reply asap. Thanks again!

I'm a pretty sure John Liberto's death date is 12/24/1933 BUT that could be wrong since my nanie is the one who told me that and she was only 5yrs old when he died. I'm going to the library today to look for his obituary, so hopefully I'll have more infor by the end of the day.
