Post by benji »

Could some translate, please

The blank spaces are not readable. Is there a way to scan and attach the original? Maybe someone could then read the entire document.

Luca

Since I am a newbie I don't know how to attach a file, some have indicated that it is difficult. Could I email it to you.

Certificato Di Matrimonio

The only guaranteed thing is that the registrar (Mr. Lorenzo Simoni) is a cretin! It's not that the way to fill a document. I recommend you to write again at the Commune of Sgurgola and ask for a new Certificato or (better) a "Copia Integrale".
However, the marriage took place on 1873 May 24th, the groom was Pronti Michele (24 years old) son of Luigi and Eufemia (the surname is not readable), and the bride was Fanezzi (not sure at all) Angela (20 y.o.), daughter of Vincenzo and Angela Maria (the mother's surname is not readable).

It's true - those who don't understand Italian will indeed find these discourses between you somewhat confusing... Why not add a brief explanation of what you have said on each post.

BTW I totally agree with you all - the clerk who wrote that Certificate was an imbecile! And, as Luca said, unfortunately there are still many like him in many comunes in Italy today who make genealogical research a nightmare!
If you think education is expensive - try ignorance!

I sent off a letter to Uffico dello Stato Civile, Comune di Sgurgola, Frosinone in July 2007 asking for a copy of the same certificate as well as copies of the State of the family certificate. From reading the posts, some people recommend asking for the state of the family certificate. As of December 2007 I hadn't heard anything, so I sent a second letter. Still nothing.

What else can I do?

Send fiollow-up letter whenyou have not received a response...go to http://www.angelfire.com/ok3/pearlsofwi ... tters.html

Further you may wish to enclose $5.00 since research for poorly paid clerks takes place as an end of day duty. =Peter=
