The mormon church family history library has microfilms of many cities, towns and villages of BMD starting in 1809 and going to 1900 since privacy law prohibit going beyond 100 years. There is no on line record.

Hi John - There are a few websites that contain records that have been extracted by individuals and posted on-line. However, this is a very limited source and one would have to be quite lucky to hit upon his or her comune of origination. There is an excellant alternative in the LDS microfilms. These films are available at Family History Centers worldwide. Go to www.familysearch.org and follow the links to Library>LibraryCatalog>PlaceSearch to search for records of your towns. You can also find the nearest Family History Center at that site.

The records for Cassino have been filmed for the period 1809-1900. The records for Cervaro have been filmed for the period 1810-1944. However, only the birth records are said to have been filmed through 1944 (the marriage and death records all predate unification) and that may be an error, since the Italian Privacy Laws prevent the release of any records occuring during the last 75 years. In addition, 82 years of birth records are supposedly on one microfilm reel, which would seem unlikely. You would have to view that reel to know for sure. I think there was a discussion about the Cervaro records (destruction and reconstruction) in another post.
