My husbands Uncle remembers his grandmother singing the following to him:
Dans, Dans Lucia
Ciapa cull pasarott
A tua mamma cria
disa ca lera Pino
Any ideas on its meaning and origin?
Old lullabye?

Re: Old lullabye?
Yes, this is Piedmontese dialect. It doesn't look a lullaby but a nursery rhyme. Actually I don't know it. The translation is:rstolliver wrote:My husbands Uncle remembers his grandmother singing the following to him:

Dance, dance Lucia
catch that little bird
if your mother shouts
tell her it was Pino (short for Giuseppe)
While I understand the first two lines, there is somenthing not clear for the other two so I'm not sure they are correct. Try and ask your uncle again.
