My grandparents (father's side) were born and raise in Caccamo, Sicily. The spelling of there last name somehow got changed on their entry into the USA.
My grandfather's name was : Filippo Cicala Birth date approx. 1874; Grandmother maiden name was:Nacasia Garifo, Birth Date approx. 1883
Any information would be appreciated. Like many individuals, I am trying to do a family geniology.

This site, you and the other masters have given me more information than what I expected. I THANK YOU very much.
PeterTimber, above post, gave me a URL. I am going to follow up on that and see what else I can find. (Grand-mother's Mary Nicasia Cecala birth day, there parents name, etc.)
Also from the above post, I found out my grandfather has brothers. A wealth of information to help me go back in history.
Why don't you open a file on The Ellis Island site. Then you can save all the manifests you find and save and or print when yyou wish. The site is free (you just have to register)and is a wonderful resource. Look under passenger search. there are options to save your searches and to start a file.

I'm having no luck locating census records for Filippo, Nicosia and children. Did the family stay in Philadelphia or did they move someplace else? Do you know their chidlrens' names and dates of birth? Any information you can provide would help.
