Looking for information about Antonio D'Angelo

Post by adangel1 »

Antonio D'Angelo came to the US about 1900
He lived, worked and died in Hazelton Pennsylvania (coal miner)
He had sons; Joseph, Frank, Dick, James (I cant remember anymore)

His son Joseph had two sons Anthony and Joseph
His son James had one daughter AnnMarie

Joseph and Jame's s families moved first the the Bronx NY, then to Queens NY and then to Long Island New York.

I am trying to trace where my ancestors came from. Can anyone advise where D'Angelos lived in Italy around the turn of the 20th century?

My name is Anthony D'Angelo Jr and my father is Anthony D'Angelo.

Can anyone help?

Hello Anthony and welcome to IG!

It would help if you could supply some additional information.

Year of birth and year of death for Anthony
Wife's name and birth and death years
Children's birth years and where born--Italy or Pennsylvania

Did Antonio and family live in Hazelton proper or in an outlying township?

Nice work, Valarie!

I'm sure that the Antonio on the census records I posted and the Antonio on the naturalization docs is the same person. Wife Lucrezia from the same comune of Civita, province of Cosenza, Calabria.

We'll need some confirmation from Anthony.

Possible 1896 manifest line 265

Angelantonio D'Angelo, yob about 1873
Destination looks like it could be Hazelton
Unfortunately, no last residence given

If we can find wife Lucrezia's manifest, we might be able to verify if my guess that it's the comune of Civita in Cosenza is correct.

Possible 1902 manifest for Antonio's wife Lucrezia lines 26 and 27
Travelling with mother Rosina d'Andrea to join brother/son Leonardo at Lattimer Mines, PA (Lattimer Mines is in the Hazelton/Milnesville area)
Last residence: Civitanova
Possibles:
Civitanova del Sannio, province: Isernia - region: Molise

Hello Biff!
Great find :D !
It looks like line 28 may be traveling with them too.
All headed to see Leonardo (??)
I checked D'Angelo & D'Andrea they're both still current in Molise & Marche.

If we could figure out the name on line 28 perhaps it wouldn't be as common?
CERVINO?

Dominic "Dick" D’Angelo, of Milnesville, died Thursday at Hazleton General Hospital.

Born in Milnesville, he was the son of the late Antonio and Grace (Chervino) D’Angelo, and lived in the area all of his life.

He worked in area mines, and, prior to his retirement, had been employed at Hazleton General Hospital.

He was a member of St. Nazarius Church, Pardeesville, the United Mine Workers of America, and the Moose Club, of Hazleton.

Preceding him in death, in addition to his parents, were his wife, the former Mildred Touch; a grandson, Eugene D’Angelo; and brothers and sisters, Frank, James and Joseph D’Angelo, and Lena Mussoline and Rose Grozak. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

...

The funeral will be held Saturday at 9 a.m. from the Fierro Funeral Home Inc., 26 W. Second St., Hazleton, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in St. Nazarius Church.

Interment will take place in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, McAdoo.
...
---

I checked the surname ’Cervino’, it is currently found in Isernia Province, Molise Region
but nowhere in Marche Region.

Thanks, Valarie

So, I had the correct manifest but the wrong Lucrezia. Antonio's wife was Lucrezia Cervino travelling with the D'Andreas.

Wondering if Leonardo's surname was Cervino. There are a few manifests for a Leonardo Cervino from Civita or Hazelton I located on steve morse.
