Thanks Debbie! I took advantage of their trial offer a few years ago and found it very helpful so I can't wait to look through it again this week. I am on vacation so lots of time to play!

BTW..how have you been? Long time since you have been around! I missed you.

Hi Debbie,
It looks like the free offer period has expired. How far back do the newspaper archives go? I'm trying to find the maiden name of my cousin's wife. Other than being a nurse who was born in Russia, the only information I have is the following from SSDI:

Death date : Jun 1974

Social security number : 153-12-6137
Issued : New Jersey
Source of death record : 31
Estimated age at death : 76 years 9 months
Collection : U.S. Social Security Death Index

Go to www.ssa.gov/foia/html/foia_guide.htm for a copy of her SS-5 application on line paying with a credit card. The ss-5 will have her parents names and other vital data. There is a fee (about $30.=/-). =Peter=

Hello Peter,

What I am more interested in is her obit. The 1920 census shows one child for her. The obit may list more.

Can you post the 1920 census for us to look at or provide us with the text it's listed under to view? This may help.

Thanks for the reply Nuccia. Yes that's the terribly smeared 1920 Series T625 Roll 1051 Page 266 which I viewed on Heritage Quest. However the wife's name is Gertrude. One can barely see the tail of the letter "G". For some reason they do not appear in the 1930 census. Could it be that Heritage Quest doesn't have the entire 1930 Census on line?
I am sure the SSDI information relates to her because the SSN is consecutive with that of her husband Dominick, (my 1C1R Domenico Antonio Leone born 2 Sep 1887 in Campobasso, CB).

Thank you Suanj. Ellis Island.org doesn't have any of the information that you have posted. Yes, the obituary may provide her maiden name and of any children besides Ruth. Thanks again.

Quote from the Lds
Heritage Quest Online has the 1930 census index for only five states: Connecticut, Delaware, Maryland, Texas, and Virginia, but has the census images for ALL states. These census images and partial index are available at the Family History Library, most Family History Centers, and some public libraries. You can also use Heritage Quest Online at home if you pay a subscription fee, or if you have a library card from selected public libraries. The images and index are on the Internet at http://persi.heritagequestonline.com/hq ... sus/search. If you, or the library you are using, have a Heritage Quest Online subscription, you can click on a name in the census index to view an image of that census page. You could also browse Heritage Quest Online census images without using an online index.

Suanj, thank you for the census image. You are great. It provided me with much information.
I can access HeritageQuest from home via my library card but for the 1930 census, and some immigration manifests, I'll have to go to the library to search on Ancestry.com. However, I will wait until the tourists go back north then I'll have plenty of time at the computers.

Did you notice that the Leone name was transcribed as Leane ?
