Guardia Lombardi

Any information on this town (near Avellino) would be welcome. Specifically: the history of the town and the names of local Catholic churches where vital records (births, marriages, deaths, etc.), might be or may have been kept would be appreciated.

Civil records in Italy are in the Ufficio di Styato Civile and normally date back to 1809 and cover all births, marriages and deaths as well as family composition. Church records also have similar but much less information and it is difficult to come by since a local priest has to do the researching for you and they are often busy...too busy to do it so you may have to hire soemone. The Ufficio di Stato Civile has records which are also on micorfilm at the family history library of the Mormon church where uyou can trace your family back to 1809 and makje copies of the entgries. If you want additional information go to www.comuni.it and insert the town name in the lower right for municipal details and the town website and perhbaps e-mail address as well. Peter
