Niecy51,
We can help get you started on the records that require subscriptions.
Your ship manifests are probably on Ellis Island - a free site:
http://stevemorse.org/ellis2/ellisgold.html
You may find some family records on this free site for NYC from the Italian Genealogical Group

Hello!
I’m so glad we could help :D !
Having trouble identifying the correct military registration cards, naturalization paperwork and ship manifests for Gaetano D’Angelo.
There are at least three living in the Bronx with wives named Sebastiana 8O !
One was born in 1885, registered for WWI in CT and lived in the Bronx in 1942.
Do you have any addresses for your grandparents in the Bronx? It may help to sort this out.
Thanks!

Great work, Valarie!

Possible 1910 census for Gaetano D'Angelo
Very poor image; see line 85
Name: Gaetano Dangelo
Age in 1910: 24
Estimated Birth Year: abt 1886
Birthplace: Italy
Relation to Head of House: Boarder
Father's Birth Place: Italy
Mother's Birth Place: Italy
Home in 1910: Bronx Assembly District 33, New York, New York
Marital Status: Married
Race: White
Gender: Male
Year of Immigration: 1909
Possible relative Vito on line 84 above

Just a bit of conjecture on my part but the Groton Iron Works, Gaetano's employer on the WWI Draft card, had a boom building vessels after the US entered WWI. It's possible Gaetano and family moved to Connecticut for a time for a better paying job and then relocated to the Bronx.

Hey Biff :D !
Great find! They're in the right neighborhood.
I originally hesitated on the WWI Card in CT because none of the children were born in CT (on the census).
Having trouble zeroing in on the correct manifest for Gaetano, may have one for Vito though

Note: the other Gaetano was born abt 1890 & had a wife named Sebastiana - his naturalization paperwork is on footnote.

Here’s a ship manifest for a possible brother of Gaetano
His age matches the 1930 census for the Vito living at the same address
and the Vito on Biff's 1910 census find :D .

1915 manifest
page 2

10 May 1915, SS Duca D’Aosta, Napoli to NY
Lines 18-19
Vito D’Angelo 41
- married, soap maker
- last residence Buccheri Siracusa
- in Buccheri, wife Concetta Giarrusso
- Vito in NY 1905-1911
- joining brother Gaetano D’Angelo at 152 Morris Street
- born in Buccheri Siracusa
Daughter (??) 17

Thanks Biff!
I kept trying to start her name with a 'T'
No doubt their mother's name?

Niecy, are you interested in ordering some of your family records from Italy?
We can help with some direction on how to do it.

No charge.
If you're going to ask for more than a handful of records, you may want to inquire if there's a fee.
