Birth certificate for ancester Mengarelli

Post by Sintram »

Hello !
I guess we are about 20 Mengarellis in Sweden and no one really knows anything about our ancesters !
But this i know.
Augusto Attilio Giuseppe Mengarelli (5/1-1881-1965) came to Sweden 1905 or 1907 , probably thru Viborg (Finland/Russia) were he might have met his wife , Emma Maria Nykänen (4/7-1886-1962) , whom he married in 1908 in Stockholm/Sweden.

According to a swedish archive , he was born in Ascoli Piceno , Marche region.
He might have been a Bersaglieri cause he preformed in an orchestra , later called Prince de Piemonte, wearing a Bersaglieri uniform.

I have been reading some messages in the Forum and I guess one way to find out or get his birth certificate is to write to;
Ufficio dello Stato Civile
Comune di Ascoli Piceno
63100 ASCOLI PICENO AP
ITALY

Egregi Signori,
Mi chiamo Micke, ed abito in Svezia all'indirizzo sopradetto.

Distinti saluti,

But I´m also interested in his parents ,sisters and brothers ???

(Is that what a "state of family certificate is ??)......no.

I´d be greatfull for any assistance ,

Thanks Peter.
I´m trying with the Registry office first.

It´s interesting to see that there are so many Mengarellis in US and only 20 in Sweden (All from them same ancester….what a guy!)

If anybody is interested there is an archive in Sweden , Rotemansarkivet 1878-1926 , where you might find where your ancester lived.
In Sweden , and you need to know –where in sweden , and it´s in swedish !
http://www3.ssa.stockholm.se/Rotemansar ... earch.aspx

But still , there are some Jaconelli ,Bellio, de Pellegrini , Franchi etc. etc.

MENGARELLI is listed in the Italian surname dictionary as one of very very many variations, derivations, alterations of the base surname MENICO.

The surname MENICO or MINICO or Menego or Minigo all stem from the first name Domenico already popular in 1000AD which later eviolved into surnames. =Peter=

I believe that, before of request in Ascoli Piceno civil records office, you need of military document abt your ancestor, because so you can find the exact birth common... maybe he was born in some common of Ascoli Piceno province...
you can request the photocopy of LISTA DI LEVA di MENGARELLI Augusto nato in provincia di Ascoli Piceno il 5 Gennaio 1881
here the Archive email http://www.archivi.beniculturali.it/UCB ... I%20PICENO
just my suggestion, regards,

Thank you Suanj for your help.

Today I got the (email)answer from Archivio di Stato di Ascoli Piceno.
No Augusto in their military records . But they suggested me to make the same request to the whole Marche region ,Ancona , Macerata and Pesaro, which I did.

Is it possible , in those times , that you can do your military service in, for instance , Rome ?Even if you were born in Ascoli Piceno ?

no it is no possible... the military papers are always in birth province, so if Augusto was born in Ascoli Piceno the military paper must be in Ascoli Piceno archive; it is possible that him first firstname was not Augusto but Attilio or Giuseppe? so: Attilio Augusto Giuseppe Mengarelli? or viceversa?
however they searched for Augusto Mengarelli, because the other first names are no important in Italy...
now wait the Ascoli Piceno common reply and after you can send the same request to Macerata or Ancona Archives ... regards,
suanj

Here's my late results.

on Augusto Mengarelli:
- born in Ascoli Piceno as said
- father: unknown. "Ignoto" in italian. what does it means? not clear at this point. A serious genealogical research can uncover it.
- mother Teresa Mengarelli, so he took the surname from her in absence of a father

Augusto Mengarelli birth card:
Image

I follow on with maternal tree.
on Teresa Mengarelli:
- born 1859
- in Ascoli Piceno
- she married Edoardo (no surname) from Ascoli Piceno, but he's never listed as father. Could be an union made later in her life.
- Edoardo died in 1888 (Augusto aged 7)

- Teresa's parents:
Giacomo Mengarelli
Filomena Capiati

The Mengarelli maternal tree up to the ancestor:

on emigration:
- Teresa (now widowed) and Augusto started a migration route 13 years before arrival in Sweden.
- They left Ascoli Piceno as early as 1892 (Augusto aged 11) to settle in Rome.

Ignoto means you have no father registered as being his son at the time your birth. They could have gotten married later..... . He did not take his mothers surname voluntarily he had no choice!...Peter
