Arcario, Cina,Ribera

Post by Professor »

Looking for information on Vincenzo (Vincent) Arcario, b. Sicily, maybe Ribera, ca. 1891, or his wife (and families).
Married Antoinetta (Antonina) Cina, b. Sicily ca. 1898.
Father of Vicenzo may have been Giuseppe (Joseph).

Brother of Vincenza may have been Mariano (Maurice) b. 1886.

Hi Professor and welcome to the forum.

Can you tell us if any of the above ever left Italy to go to the US or England, Canada, etc? How about the names of any of their children? Its always best when researching to start with yourself and work backwards which you may have already done but it would help us if we could also start there.

Look forward to your reply! :)

Valarie
These relatives of my wife ended up in NY city.
My wife's grandmother was Antoinette Cina, b. 19 Aug 1898, probably Palermo.
Arrived in US about 1912.
She married Vincent Arcario in 1914.

Her father was Peter Cina, b. ca. 1853, d. ca. 1925.
He married Rosalie Rinaldi, b. ca. 1863. She was his second wife. No record of first. Peter may have been born in Malta.
His mother may have been Angelina?

Lots of great info but I think it would be wiser to wait until Professor confirms this is in fact the correct family. Wouldn't you agree?

My Children had a grandfather from Jailsco, Mexico. I interviewed him on tape before his death about his ancestry. All he knew was that his grandparents where born in Jalisco but that his grandfather used to say their roots where from Italy. Their last name was China, although i wonder if that is the same as Cina but since it was pronounced in spanish they added an h? How do you pronounce "Cina" in italian?

In spanish, you pronounce China as "Chee- Nah"

thanks

I believe it is pronounced the same way.

I found lots of Cina's on the Ellis Island site from Italy but only a few China's so at this point hard to tell if the name was changed. You may want to start your own thread with some additional information and we can try to find something for you.
