help with finding Great Grandmother Pedroli

Post by darrynray »

Hello,
I've just reconnected with my Great Grandfather's Italian family (Gheller) after 50 or so years. My Great Grandmother though died in 1917-18 of the flu. Her name and story of what I know is this: Her name was Josephine Pedroli. She lived in Hardwick, Vermont (and perhaps Massachusetts) from 1900 till her death. Her dad was Pietro, Mother was Antonietta, sisters Adel, Mary, Rose and Olympia. Mary I know married and had the last name Williams and had a daughter Vera. I believe the family was from Ispra and moved here before 1900. I've tried to find her marriage/and or death certificate but have had no luck. They only had girls in the family so it's hard to track down the Pedroli line. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I found an Antonia (Antonietta is a diminutive of Antonia) Ferrari, 40y, joining her husband Pietro Pedroli, in 1906, travelling with her daughter Maria Pedroli, 10y, going to Ardwick, VT. She was from Vogogna, now in the province of Verbania (Novara before), Piedmont (NW Italy).

Lines 11 and 12

Antonia Pedroli

There is also a Ferrari Pedroli Antonietta (same person as above), in 1923, widow, 56y, going to Boston, Mass., sister in Italy Caterina Ferrari in Vogogna.

Line 13

Thank you VJ!! Knew I could count on you!! :D

Did you have a chance to look at the Hamburg manifest? And the handwriting!! Hard on the eyes, but could be an earlier arrival.

Hey Lee :D , The manifest date and Pietro's age fits, but you're right there's not much info
Lee's 1892 manifest find (line 126)

Ada, what a wonderful finds :D !
It appears that Antonia's 1906 manifest was her 2nd trip (in US 1896-1906)
Here's her special inquiry page not much info

Thank you Valarie.
If youy look at Pietro Pedroli's manifest 1906, he declares he comes from Novara (many times they declared the province instead of town) and he his going to Ardwick.... so I'm sure Antonia Ferrari was his wife. (Actually, my greatgrandmother's name was Antonia Ferrari too and was living just few miles from Vogogna).

Very good Valarie, I found it too and was just going to post it but you were very quick. So Antonia was travelling with Giuseppina and Adele. Names match.

Ada, thank you :D !
I forgot to look at where Pietro said he was from on Lee's 1906 manifest.
I also just noticed that he stated he was in the US from 1892-1905.
That matches Lee's 1892 manifest.
