Post by LaBud »

Hi to All:

Gave up on one Luigi and now looking for another please.

Luigi Sandonato B: Mar. 3 1897 in Prezza, L'Aquila, Abruzzi
Death: Mar 1970 Boston, Ma.

Married PasquaRosa (Forgione) B: Sept. 24 1901
Death: Jan 1981 Quincy, Ma. (Norfolk County)

They settled in Boston, Ma. (Suffolk County), last we remember 18 Mill St. Dorchester, Ma. (Not sure where they originaly lived prior to Mill St.)

Children: (lost a small son to an accident, name unknown) Antonette, Carlo, Anna, Danny (all deceased)
We are not sure if any of these children were born in Italy or not.

Looking for any and all info on Louie and PasquaRosa (arrival,Parents, sibs of either Louie or PasquaRosa, children etc)

We are related to both of them, both on our Maternal and Paternal sides again! :)

Trying to obtain info on Sandonato and Forgione
This is all the information we have. Sorry for not being able to provide more than this.

Thanks so much and a great weekend to all.

Hi Val,
Thanks so much for this info. :)
I don't know if my eyes are playing tricks but I just read everything and went to comment on your 1st post and it is gone. LOL

So Luigi is single, leaves his mother Anna in Prezza. I can't really pick up his age but just so you know, it sure looks like Louie traveling with all the other Prezzani's on that manifest. They all went to the famous "Grand Hotel" at No. Square, Boston. All the names match, that's for sure. :)

The post I was going to comment on, if it was him, he was a border. That post threw me off as it appears he came here twice. I want to believe that the 2nd post is the right one.

So where is PasquaRosa Forgione in all of this? Is it possible that she too came here single and Love blossomed once again within the family? :)

I have to get on the horn with my brother John and see if he has more info that may help out here.
It amazes me that when you ask relatives if so and so had any sibs, they give the standard answer...(shrug of the shoulders) LOL

I'll be back....
Grazie,
LaBud

"Valerie"

You are so fast...
I want you to know "I have tears in my eyes right now" from your latest posts. Both my Grandfather's names and so many others are listed.
You are The Best!

I have to call my brother right now and hope he doesn't pass out on me. :)

Mille Grazie

I'm so glad we found your family :D .
It appears that Luigi made many trips back and forth before he brought his family over in 1939.
Valarie

Here's the address you were looking for
1947 Naturalization Index Card

note: from the age on this card, I think Pasquarosa's age on the 1939 manifest must be incorrect

OK Val, I wiped the tears with "Bounty" :)

Louie's house was the only house I was ever in, in my life that had a dining room set with 18 chairs. Any time you went there, the food would come out in droves and you HAD to eat. Didn't matter if you just ate, you still HAD to eat a full course meal again. PasquaRosa was always cooking and Louie had the famous wine cellar...you went down a flight of stairs and then you actually went "underground to his self built wine cellar"
He would take us down there as kids so we could carry the bottles of "homemade wine" back up stairs. Geez, how I remember like it was yesterday that it was "Freezing" down there! We had to put our jackets on just to get the wine. LOL

Louie was a lil bit of a guy and he had a favorite slogan he would say all the time to everyone as they were leaving that I will share with you and others.....

"Senda the Bill toa 18 Mill"

Valerie, you just brought back some beautiful memories from OUR childhood and WE thankyou from the bottom of our hearts.

Mille Grazie

Happy Sunday to all of you,

Now that we have digested all this wonderful news, we have just a few questions if that's alright.

Louie and PasquaRosa had a daughter named Antonetta. It appears to me that Antonetta and Francesca are one and the same person. We were all little and Antonette is the only name we knew her by. (Maybe a middle name)
Also, PasquaRosa always had "the black dress on"
Our mother told us that she had a little boy about 2 or 3 (not Danny)
who was accidently run over by a milk truck or ice truck in front of 18 Mill St. I just remember being dragged as a very little kid to St. Michael's Cemetary in Jamaica Plain and PasquaRosa would always be crying at a grave stone. We were told that was the grave of her little baby that was killed by the truck.
Is there a possibility he could have been Donato? We know she had a son we called Danny. He was born after Anna. He married Mary (?) and lived on Main St. in Quincy, Ma. and had children. Danny was young, about 40 when he died from a heart attack. (I think)
Was it custom way back then if you lost a son, if you had another son, he would be given the same name as the baby that died?
Just trying to figure out the name of the baby that died, seeing we all knew Danny and no other child is shown on that manifest.
Could the Danny we knew have been born in USA?

I'm just trying very hard to remove another brick for Brother John.
Thanks again, you are all wonderful. :)

Geesh, I think the tails are growing longer and longer.

I just came across another Manifest with Sandonato, Forgione. Gentile, Navarolli, Cicerone's ( #'s 17, 18, 23, 24, 29 ) all on the same boat with the Spadorcia's :D
