Got him. We didn't realise he died as my own grandfather died in 1994.

Yeah I'm having no luck with the others OR my fathers side :|

I'm starting to think they were never there during a Census year

Also is there a way to find a Maiden Name? I am trying to find out the name of my Great Aunt.
I know her maiden name was Cornacchia but we're not entirely sure what her first name was (possibly Antionetta)
She had a daughter called Grazia (Grace) and her married name is Grace Desilets (married John Desilets +1987) who I can find in searches but no wedding certificate.

She currently lives in Leominster, MA

Valente family
adriana295 wrote: My other great grandfather is a little more of a mystery. His name was Pasquale Valente and lived in Detroit with his two sons Loreto (Larry) and Luciano. I know Luciano had a Deli/Store in Newark. NI and this is where the leads vanish. Larry died recently as far as I know and the information has stopped due to all the older generations in my family passing away. I know Pasquale died in a railing accident in the 1920's although I can't seem to find any written record of his death.
I looked at Loreto Valente's 1936 manifest again, if this is the correct Loreto he was joining his father Pasquale in Detroit. Are you sure your Pasquale died in the 1920's?

Is this correct?

Cool i've never actually been able to find him, I only found Luciano who went over in 1920!!

There is still no record of Pasquales death :\

I'm asking my mum just now.... she was a late babe so doesnt know as much as my aunt and uncle... she thinks my nonno was in his 20s.... so that would be the 40's/50's.... She is sure she remembers being told he went just before War broke out and my grandfather was meant to follow next but he was signed up for the war instead. He then followed my gran to Glasgow, Scotland.

Argh the story changes every time from my family!!!

yup, I have the Ellis Manifests but your reading is better than mine!!! I think it was Russell St

We're baffled as why my g-g-grandfather went to the States when his wife stayed in Italy. I do have his death as 1927 meaning he must have returned to Italy unless the person making the family tree didnt realise that he was in the States.
