Venturas from Bari?

Post by Acemoto »

Hello everyone! This forum seems amazingly helpful. I am trying to find info about my ancestors, because I'm moving to Italy and would like to claim dual citizenship through bloodright.

Here is what I know:

Great grandfather: John (maybe Giovanni?) Michael Ventura
Born in Acquaviva, near Bari, around 1900ish
Son of Augusta Ventura

Great grandmother: Augusta Rose Longo
Born in 1905 in Termini Imerese
Daughter of Leonardo Longo and Rosemary Corso

Any info would be much, much appreciated! THANK YOU!!!

Pink, you are AMAZING...such an incredible feeling it is to see this information!

That is definitely the correct census info. Do you know if there is a resource for, or how I would go about finding, when he became a citizen?

I'm glad the records are correct for your great-grandafther's family.... :D

If you look better the 1930 census manifest:

Column n. 22: Year of immigration: 1914
Column 23: Naturalization: NA (it means he was already naturalized)

Considering that at the time of the miltary enlistment for the WWI (1917/1918) he stated he was an Alien and he was naturalized at the time of the 1930 census (April 1930), possible he got the naturalization between 1917 and 1930...

Giovanni Ventura at the time of his arrival on 1913 stated he was joining his brother Michele in Dayton, well, I found out that Michele Ventura (born on 1890) went back to Italy (probably on 1919) and landed for the second time in NY on January 1920 togheter with his sister Antonia Ventura (born on 1893):

from Ellisisland.org:

page 1:
http://www.ellisisland.org/EIFile/popup ... &line=0015
page 2:
http://www.ellisisland.org/EIFile/popup ... &line=0015

Michele stated he was in the U.S. before, from 1913 to 1919 and them both stated they were joining their brother Giovanni on 911 East Second Street - Dayton - OH... they were leaving in Italy (Acquaviva) their father Eustachio

Here you have the birth date for Michele Ventura:

World War I Draft Registration Cards, 1917-1918
about Michael Vento (mispelled)
Name: Michael Vento
City: Dayton
County: Montgomery
State: Ohio
Birthplace: Italy
Birth Date: 25 Jan 1889
Race: Caucasian (White)
FHL Roll Number: 1832191
DraftBoard: 3
