Torre/Parente family

Post by LindaAnn »

My greatgrandfather, Giovanni Torre was born 6/24/1877. His wife was Caterina Parente also from Bellosguardo born around 1880. I believe that they were married in Bellosguardo and then came to US in 1904. They did travel back and forth and one of their children was born over there. I believe Caterina died in Bellosguardo when she went home to visit her mom. Several of her children then moved to Italy. I would like to obtain the birthcertificate (to find out his parents names) and marriage info on Giovanni. What do I request and where to send the request to? Thanks so much.

Go to www.tuttitalia.it/campania/56-bellosquardo and scroll down to MUNICIPIO for address of Ufficio di Stato Civile in which you will request "estratto di nascita"=Long form for more information, parents names etc and its free of charge.

If there is a problem bring up the Bellosquardo website do the following. Go to www.nonsolocap.it and put in BELLOSQUARDO 84020 and when the next screen comes up click on Bellosquardo 84020 and the website should come up. By the way Joseph Parente is the Mayor!!

.

Go to http://www.angelfire.com/ok3/pearlsofwi ... tters.html for the form letters and mail them to the MUNICIPIO address I gave you above. =Peter=

Is this the correct manifest for Caterina and family? Don't know if you have it already?

I see that you are linked to the Torre family. My maiden surname is Torre, and I have been trying to further my research. I thought I would share my relation to Torre in case there might be a link: My grandfather was Pietro Giovanni Torre (b. 1943 in Pretoria, Gauteng, SA). My great-grandfather was Philippus Stefanus Torre (b. 1917, I think also in SA), and my great-great-grandfather was Pietro Torra (b. 1871 in Italy). If it wasn't a spelling error, the surname seems to have changed from Torra to Torre.
