SURNAME change

Over 25 million Italians have emigrated between 1861 and 1960 with a migration boom between 1871 and 1915 when over 13,5 million emigrants left the country for European and overseas destinations.

SURNAME change

Post by leash » 05 Mar 2010, 07:31

Hi I have a massive question and am looking for help or some answers.
My mum has legally changed her surname from Scecchitano to our current surname, i have been told that i may not be recognised in the lineage as her surname on my b/c is different and italt does not recognise this but to send her de poll (change of name) is this true? and is there any way around this???
Known surnames- Mollica, Alba, Cannella, Secchitano
I would like to research my family history and find out as much as I can =)

Amend her bc to reflect the legal name change. Then her birth certificate will be consistent with yours.
