Certification of Non-Existance Record

Over 25 million Italians have emigrated between 1861 and 1960 with a migration boom between 1871 and 1915 when over 13,5 million emigrants left the country for European and overseas destinations.

Certification of Non-Existance Record

Post by cdevita »

Received the letter quickly and had backed up my request with tons of back up material, census, death certificate, etc. The info at the bottom of the letter is unusual (or please tell me ti is not) :

File No: (There is nothing there and I guess that is correct since there is no record.

Subject: GGF name

Also known as (AKA): Blank as well

Born on: 1/1/1863 (THE YEAR IS CORRECT BUT THAT IS NOT THE BIRTHDATE) could it be that they use this as a default date for anyone born during that year?

Country of Birth: Italy

I have found that several Agencies use January 1 as a default date if they dont know the exact date. Frustrating I know.
