Ritrovare parenti emigrati!

Over 25 million Italians have emigrated between 1861 and 1960 with a migration boom between 1871 and 1915 when over 13,5 million emigrants left the country for European and overseas destinations.

Ritrovare parenti emigrati!

Post by mario000 »

Salve, parlando con mia nonna ho scoperto che molto tempo fa (inizi 900) dei miei parenti che portavano il mio cognome sono emigrati in America. Adesso vorrei conoscere i discendenti (sicuramente saranno morti i parenti emigrati). Il cognome è Noviello e la città di nascita e di residenza era Sessa Aurunca, Caserta. Ho scoperto anche che c'era una parente emigrata. Ecco i suoi dati:

First name: Antonia
Last name: Noviello
Last Place of Residence: Sessa Aurunca, Caserta
Date of Arrival: Mar 06, 1907
Age at Arrival: 28y
Gender: F
Marital Status: M
Ship of Travel: Madonna

According to the manifest that you referenced above...

Antonia Noviello was traveling with her husband Giacomo Fusco (age 29) and her two children; Francesco, age 5; and Antonio, age 3.
Their destination was Brooklyn, NY - to Giacomo's brother Antonio.

I found Antonia Fusco and her children in the 1910 US Census living with her brother Domenic Novia[Noviello], in Brooklyn, NY, at 413 Frost St.
Antonia is listed as "Donia" Fusco, and she is a widow[vedova]...
Children listed are:
Frank[Francesco?] - age 9
Tony[Antonio] - age 7
Charles - age 3
Angelina - age 9 months.

FROM NYC Death Index...
Giacomo died two months before the above US Census, on 17 February 1910 :-(
Fusco Giacomo 33 y Feb 17 1910 3764 Kings (Brooklyn)

IN 1915 New York State Census, Antonia and son, Frank, are still living at 140 Frost St., Brooklyn, NY, with her brother, Domenick Novello[Noviello]
The other children are not listed :-)

Possible death index listing for Dominick

Noviello Dominick 44 y Dec 11 1932 23751 Kings

Possible marriage for Dominick in 1919...

Pietri Giustina Jun 15 1919 Kings 6658
Noviello Domenico Jun 15 1919 Kings 6658

Dominick and Justine (Giustina) in 1930 Census... no children listed.
Dominick is listed as a "candy maker" and Justine as a "chocolate dipper"

Hey Tessa, it's still me, Mario.
Basically, Antonia, after her husband's death, lived with her children at her brother's house. So, there are only 4 descendants with Fusco as last name. Is there a way to know more about them?
Is there a way to know more about Domenico Noviello too? Was he born in Italy and when did he move to the USA?
Thanks for your aid! I really appraciate it a lot! <3

Yes, according to the 1915 NYS Census and 1930 US Census I posted above, Domenick Noviello was born in Italy.
He lists his arrival date at 1910, and indicates that he is naturalized. Perhaps I can find his Naturalization papers.

I will continue to search for more information about Antonia's decendants.
