Adoption and citizenship

Over 25 million Italians have emigrated between 1861 and 1960 with a migration boom between 1871 and 1915 when over 13,5 million emigrants left the country for European and overseas destinations.

Adoption and citizenship

Post by rtgeertman » 23 Aug 2016, 04:39

I am sure these question has been posted a thousand times, but I am at a loss as to where to start and what to do. Briefly, I was adopted through Catholic Charities in 1964 from Italy. I am trying to research two questions. The first is I would like to reclaim my Italian citizenship. I was naturalized as an American citizen while a minor. I have my original Italian passport that I brought with me when adopted. Will this qualify me to regain my Italian citizenship.

The second is a bit more complicated, but I would like to find my birth/biological mother. I have minimal information as to her or my father. Recommendations how and where to start would be helpful. Thanks again.

Robert
