Venezuela - DATABASE

Hi guys, I created a site www.ItalVen.netfirms.com to help the Italian descendant community in Venezuela with their research. In it you will find a public DATABASE in which we are posting the surnames of those Italians who immigrated to the country. It is growing slowly but surely so far so look for the ENTRAR DATABASE link. In addition to adding their family Surname, last residence in Venezuela, Italian Region, Province, Town/ Commune info, I am asking people to include those Italian surnames found in their family civil records, you know those people who appear as witness in birth, marriage, and death certificates. Remember 6 degrees of separation

I know I have been out of touch for a while. Well, I am back.
THis one is just to inform you that so far we got 120 Surnames in the database and I had some troubles with it for a period of timei, but its is now up and running as it should.

Congratulations for your great work, as far as I remember, I already had the opportunity to have look to your excellent website last year.

(and thank you so much to italiangeneaology too, of course !)

Unfortunately, both sites http://www.italven.org/ and http://www.italven.netfirms.com/ are apparently facing technical problems. Is there any hope to see them running again ?

PS : The grand-father of my grand-father went from Venezia to Caracas, Venezuela around 1891 and lived there for a couple of years. Though he probably had a disappointing experience and leaved Venezuela with all (?) his family, I keep being fascinated by this incredible adventure.

In the past I had accumulated websites in venezuela such as www.Geocities.com/venezuela_genealogia/index.html and www.geocities.com/venezuela_genealogia/basededatos.html and the e-mail address Venezuela_genealogia@yahoogroups.com. Also www.esgroups.yahoo.com/group/Venezuela_genealogia. I have not had occasion to consult them recently and hope they are still active

The website is back up and running,, . It has grown steadily and lots of people have joined and submitted their Ancestors’ information to the Data Base. I believe I have around 800 Italian last names so far in it. The best of all is that the Data Base only contains information of those Italians who immigrated to Venezuela from 1800 - 1945.
