Non existent birth certificate for deceased parent

Post by tdr »

Hello,
I am gathering my documents to apply for dual citizenship, and to my surprise, my father who is now deceased does not have a birth certificate. I went to the vital statistics in Trenton, NJ USA and they could not locate them. We did an extended search to see if a delayed certificate of birth was ever filed, and there was none. This year of birth was 1922 and it was not in a hospital. Has anyone ever encountered something like this? This is the last piece of info I need for my application. Any ideas on how to proceed? All other records indicate he was born here in NJ (SS application, marriage license).

Thank you.
