Can't read this ship record

I have the ship record for my great grandfather but I cannot read where he lived. Last name is Di Capito. I know the Capito's are primarily from Sicily and that is the known fact in our family.
Can anyone help?

Are we looking at line 1?
The "overwriting" reads - South Italy.
To get a better sense of the clerk's handwriting - can you post a link to the original manifest?

Line 2 is obviously - Santa Maria Capua Vetere.
SMCV is in Caserta Province, Campania Region.
