Passenger lists in the 1870\'s

Over 25 million Italians have emigrated between 1861 and 1960 with a migration boom between 1871 and 1915 when over 13,5 million emigrants left the country for European and overseas destinations.

Passenger lists in the 1870\'s

Post by JessicaLyn »

My great great grandfather Nicolo Mangiere emigrated from Italy to NYC in 1871. My great great grandmother Michelina Fasano came over in 1879. Can anyone give me a good source for passenger lists to NYC at that time. I know many came through Castle Garden and perhaps Nicolo and Michelina did too. Or maybe not. I\'m just trying to find a one-stop resource for those lists. Does any exist?

The time period that your people cam into the USA was covered by US Customs Passenger records up to 1890 and NARA may not have all of them on microfilm but file form 81 with NARA and keepo your fingers crossed. Peter
