Emigration, Immigration, Naturalization and Italian citizens

Over 25 million Italians have emigrated between 1861 and 1960 with a migration boom between 1871 and 1915 when over 13,5 million emigrants left the country for European and overseas destinations.

Emigration, Immigration, Naturalization and Italian citizens

Post by Aether » 09 Feb 2008, 17:30

It is my intention to become an Italian citizen. Although not born in Italy I descend in a direct unbroken line from Italian male ancestors.
I have followed the information provided in this Forum, and the various difficulties encountered by applicants to Italian citizenship.

Since I noticed some discrepancies I decided to get the full text of the law regarding this matter. Thus, I wrote to a cousin, a lawyer in Italy, and received this information:

"LEGGE 5 FEBBRAIO 1992 n.92. Nuove norme sulla cittadinanza pubblicato nella G.U. n.38 del 15-2-1992.
Note: Entrata in vigore della legge 15/8/1992."

It is a long text which may be attached if needed.
