Searching for GGF's birth certificate from Noto, Italy

Over 25 million Italians have emigrated between 1861 and 1960 with a migration boom between 1871 and 1915 when over 13,5 million emigrants left the country for European and overseas destinations.

Searching for GGF's birth certificate from Noto, Italy

Post by kelbel »

Hi,

I am trying to track down a copy of my Great Grandfather's birth certificate from 1887 in Italy for use for dual citizenship. Any suggestions for the best way to do this without paying a researcher? I was able to find the record of his immigration through Ellis Island in 1912 but we are having problems finding the birth records in Italy from the US. Thanks.

Hi!

if you know your ancestor's exact birth date you can request a copy of his birth act directly to the Record Office of the municipality of Noto, but if you are not sure about it you can try to check Family History center's microfilms...
These are the Microfilms for Noto:

http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Library ... umns=*,0,0

This is the right for you year:

Nati 1887-1895 FHL INTL
Film 1568315

so, when you will be sure about his birth date you an easily ask for a copy of the document without problems....

This is the link to the site of Noto's Record Office:
