Surnames Pesce, D'Imperio, Giacobello

Post by danezeeox »

I am looking for any information I can find about my ancestors.

My grandmother's father, Raffaele Pesce, was from Tollo, Chiete. While I can find three records of him traveling to the U.S., I cannot find any record of him enrolling in the army like I was told he did. Also, I am unsure of his parents. My family has been told that he didn't know his mother, and that he didn't know his father. We only know he grew up in a convent.

My grandfather's father, Salvatore D'Imperio, was from Biccari, Foggia. I noticed that there were many other D'Imperios from this same town. Is it reasonable to assume that they are all somehow related? And if so, how do I determine their relationship to my family?

Finally, anyone that has any information of a Giacobello from Siciliy (other than immigration records), I would really appreciate it.

Hello,
if your Raffaele Pesce grew up in a convent and didn't know his parents, it means he was a foundling.
You can request his birth record to

Comune
Ufficio di Stato Civile
Piazza della Liberazione, 1
CAP 66010
Tollo (CH)
Italy

These are the microfilms of Tollo civil records from mormons

http://www.familysearch.org/eng/library ... ato+civile++

You can also request his record of entry in the convent to

Archivio di Stato di Chieti

http://www.archivi.beniculturali.it/UCB ... ome=CHIETI

About your Salvatore D'Imperio you can find his birth record to

Comune
Ufficio di Stato Civile
Piazza Municipio, 1
CAP 71032
Biccari (FG)
Italy

for sure from a point of view all these D'Imperio were related to each other because, marriage were arranged from parents, so it was easy sometimes cousins got married to each other.
If you want to discover the relationship with all D'Imperio you can rent Biccari civil record microfilm, and with lot of patient you will find a lot of infos

I hope it helps
bye Riccardo

Thank you both very much for your help!

Laura, at what website would I be able to obtain the information you did? Or be able to see where Raffaele Pesce's parents were from like you did?
