DanM, I have heard that my Grandmother's Father's name was Patrick. That lead could be very helpful... I'm not sure where you found that info but thanks a ton! Any way to find out if Patrick had a daughter named Delores? Thanks!!!

Sarah,

Go to your library and see if they have ancestry.com available. If so look at the 1930 census for Patrick Morello in Boome County New York and see if she is listed with him. This Patrick who is 16 in the 1920 census is probably the same who died in 1976, see Social Security Death Index below.

Patrick MORELLO
Birth Date: 25 Mar 1905
Death Date: Feb 1976
Social Security Number: 067-30-0576
State or Territory Where Number Was Issued: New York

Death Residence Localities
ZIP Code: 13903
Localities: Binghamton, Broome, New York

You cold also try to find obituaries or death certs for Patrick or Delores and see if they fit.

Sarah,

With the Social Security Death Index and the Newspaper information provided by Valarie it looks like this is the correct Morello family.

So if Micael is his father, in the 1910 census it shows he immigrated in 1904.

THere is a Michele Morella who arived on Feb 26, 1904 aboard the Sicilian Prince from Naples Italy. He is listed as being from Faeto, Italy and his destination was Binghamton. His sponsor was his father in law, Michelle "something" of 176 Henry Street.

Also listed with him on the manifest is an Angela somebody, who is also from Faeto and going to Binghamton, could be his future wife or possibly married sister.

The manifest can be found at

Sarah,

Lastly in 1910 census there is a Tony Morell living as a boarder who also is from Italy and immigrated in 1909, a good guess would be this is Mike's brother, cousin or some other realtion who "americanized" the name.

Valerie,

Good work and good stuff.

Sarah and Valerie,

Note the address in 1910 is 174 Henry and on the ship manifest is 176 Henry, coincidence? Could be but I bet Sarah has now found where her Morello line emigrated from. But I have been wrong before.

Now I'm sure it's the correct Michele Morello who emigrated. If you look at the 1910 census image living in the same house, different apartment, is Michele Guarneiro, the same relative (father in law but I couldn't make out the name when looking only at the manifest) listed in the manifest. So Sarah's Morello family emigrated from Faeto, Italy or at least according to her gg grandfather.

Looking for Guarneiro name I found several who came from Corleone arriving in the early 1900's and some more from Faeto. But haven't found where Michele Morello's wife(Maria) came over with their son Louis(born in Italy).

Dan :D ,
Agree you have the right town.
Faeto, province of Foggia in the Apulia region.
The manifests are a challenge to find.
Note: Maria may be her middle name based on the
1910 census.

You're right, Michele & Raffaela Guarnieri on the 1910
census do appear to be Maria's parents, based your 1904
manifest find for Michele Morello.
(added their names to the transcription above)
